Client: Acorn Homes
Project: Mezzanine Floor, Badgers View Farm, Bucks.
We were approached by Acorn Homes with a request to design and build a large mezzanine floor within an existing space. The main aim was to achieve enough extra storage space within the existing building parameters. A clear, unobstructed span below the mezzanine was crucial as was the wide span staircase for ease of access, all within a pre-determined budget.
Once a suitable design was chosen, the detailing began and these designs were sent off to the engineer for the calculations.
Installation of the columns and small tie beams at the rear of the floor were installed by hand with the aid of a genie lift. Due to an already suspended timber floor, pockets were cut out for fixing of columns to the concrete slab below.

Project: The Old School House
Complete refurbishment of the existing property and the addition of a large 2 storey extension.
First stage was the 1st floor steels to the new extension. Due to the sheer size and weight of these few steels a 20T mobile crane was a requirement. Once in place, all steels are then squared off and levelled.
Second stage was the installation of the ridge and valley beams to support the new roof structure within the new extension. These are supported with SHS columns bolted to first floor steels.
The old roof on the existing structure was stripped back and a new ridge beam and A-Frame was installed to support the heavier new roof. Note the addition of an M16 Tie rod through the A-Frame to minimise spreading.
A fourth stage was the supply only of a few fabricated steels to support the new large staircase and first floor landing. This was installed by the clients at a time that suited them.
